Police Urge Residents to Schedule Vacation Checks in Light of Home Thefts

St. Louis County Police are advising residents to schedule vacations checks while they're gone this summer in an effort to curb home thefts.

An unknown suspect broke into a home on Wolfner in Fenton through a basement window on June 5. The Fenton precinct of St. Louis County Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said a High Ridge man returned home from his vacation on June 16 to find his $19,000 Harley Davidson missing from the garage

Residents in St. Louis County can take advantage of the precinct's vacation check program by calling 636-349-8120. Officers will check homes to ensure windows and doors are secure while residents are gone.

"Keep an eye on your neighbor’s house and report suspicious persons or vehicles.  Get out an meet your new neighbors," Officer Aaron Dilks also advised.
