'The Shoeman' Strikes Again: John Cary Students Donate Shoes

Proceeds from sale of shoes gathered by the John Cary Early Childhood Center will fund water wells in Africa.

Students at the John Cary Early Childhood Center collected hundreds and hundreds of pairs of shoes as a way to improve the living conditions of people in South America and Africa. The shoe donations were done to support the the Fenton-based Shoeman Water Projects. George Hutchings is ‘The Shoeman’ and has created a way to help impoverished people in several continents. The Shoeman Water Projects ships donated shoes to South American countries where they are sold to needy families for pennies on the dollar. The shoes collected by students at John Cary will be sent to Bolivia. The Shoeman Teams Up With Walmart to Turn Shoes Into Drinking Water

Shoeman Water Projects and Kingdom Seed Outreach embark on a massive drive June 14-16 to collect new or gently worn shoes as a way to provide water for those who thirst.

George "The Shoeman" Hutchings  is teaming up with Kingdom Seeds Outreach, of Fenton, and local Walmart stores across the area on a massive drive to collect shoes and turn them into clean drinking water. The shoes will get a second life as affordable shoes in developing countries, and their sale will fund drills or water filtration systems that can access fresh water. The organizers are accepting new or gently used shoes. They need to be tied or bagged together. Every donation will go to the purchase of needed equipment. Shoe-Per Bowl Scores for Good Cause

The biggest national football battle is over, but a lasting outcome of the game is continuing from Wildwood this week and sending a ripple effect to Africa.

After Sunday evening, Shoeman Water Projects had an additional 2,803 pairs of shoes from Living Word United Methodist's third annual 'Shoe-per Bowl Party' in Wildwood headed toward ensuring more people in Africa will have a chance for clean water. Rich Kim and his wife, Nancy, of St. Peters, MO, attended the Shoe-per Bowl Party at Living Word Sunday to meet with the several hundred teenagers about the mission of raising funds for clean water in Kenya from selling new and used shoes that are donated, like the pile that accumulated at the Living Word altar Sunday.
