Blockbuster in High Ridge to Close in April

Dish Network is closing nine of 16 Blockbusters in the St. Louis area.

Dish Network Corp, which owns Blockbuster, plans to close nine stores in the St. Louis area this spring, including one in High Ridge.  The High Ridge Blockbuster, 1001 Crossroads Plaza, will close March 24.  The closures are part of an announced plan to close 300 stores across the country. According to a story in the Denver Post, the closures include stores which were underperforming or were near the end of their leases.  About 500 Blockbuster stores were closed last year including 10 of 26 locations in St. Louis area, which included the Blockbuster store in Fenton Plaza, according to a story in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. You know a perfect fit for the old Blockbuster location in Olde Towne would be a Family Video. We go all the way over to Arnold to use it AND their prices are way better than Blockbuster any day!   more ›
