Learn About Police Work at Jefferson County Sheriff Citizens Academy
12-week academy to explain police work and is designed to create a better understanding between residents and the sheriff's department.
Jefferson County residents will have an opportunity to learn about police work through a series of "Sheriff's Citizens Academy" classes from 7 to 10 p.m. on Tuesdays beginning March 5. The 12-week series of classes, hosted by the the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department at it's office at 400 First St., Hillsboro, ends May 21. Participants who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion. from the sheriff's department. Class size will be limited to 30 students. This year's Citizens Academy will be the 28th class since the inception of the program.
