Game Preview: Lindbergh Aims to Roll Over Marquette at Flyers Field

The Mustangs are 2-2 and hoping to move up in the Suburban West standings, while the Flyers are 3-1 and on a roll.

Friday Night Lights this week means a contest between the Marquette Mustangs (2-2) and Lindbergh Flyers (3-1) at Flyers Field on Lindbergh Boulevard in Sappington/Sunset Hills at 7 p.m. This intriguing Suburban West Conference matchup has the visiting Mustangs coming off their biggest win of the season, a 40-6 drubbing of Northwest House Springs. Lindbergh, at 3-1 in league play, is one of the three teams tied for second in the conference, and is coming off back-to-back blowout wins over Fox and Parkway South. The Mustangs are looking to move into the logjam at second place in the Suburban West standings. In that victory, Marquette held Northwest standout Adnan Al-Amimi to just 17 rushing yards on 16 carries, while also producing nine …

Lindbergh's Defense, Passing Game Overwhelms Parkway South

Lindbergh's passing game is too much for the Patriots to handle.

In methodically efficient fashion, Lindbergh came into Parkway South on Friday night and dismantled the host Patriots, 36-7, and handed South its first loss of the 2011 season. Lindbergh quarterback Peter Simpson was razor-sharp in the pocket from the start as he threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns on the night.  "They were playing about 12 yards off, so we just kept hitting the short passes," Simpson said. "We had to get rid of the ball quick and it was up the receivers to hold onto the ball." Lindbergh (3-1) put the game away late in the first half. Already ahead 29-7 in the second quarter, Lindbergh got the ball with a short field at the Parkway South (3-1) 48-yard line. Aided by a pair of pass interference penalties, the Flyers …

Game Preview: Lindbergh Poised to Bounce Back Against Fox

The Flyers hope to keep Fox winless this season when the teams meet in a Suburban West Conference matchup at 7 p.m. on Friday night.

Lindbergh will be aiming to keep Fox (0-2) winless in their Suburban West Conference matchup at 7 p.m. on Friday night. Lindbergh (1-1), coming off a tough 24-21 overtime loss to Lafayette last week, is led by their senior quarterback, Peter Simpson. Simpson has 16 completions for 383 yards and five touchdowns this season. His main target has been senior Ryan Woodland (five catches for 79 yards). Behind Simpson stands senior running back Grant Krueger, who has 13 carries for 33 yards, and junior running back Kevin Rogers, who has seven carries for 47 yards. The Lindbergh specials team unit features Garrett Krueger. The 5-foot-11 sophomore running back has 200 total yards in punt and kickoff returns. The Lindbergh defensive line will pose a…

Lindbergh Loses Heartbreaker to Lafayette in Overtime

The Flyers fall 24-21 in overtime as Lafayette kicks a 27-yard field goal and hangs in the extra session.

Lafayette junior Daniel Menees blasted home a 27-yard field goal on the first possession of overtime, then watched as his teammates on defense held off host Lindbergh for a thrilling 24-21 victory at Flyers Field. Lindbergh led by a touchdown with just under four minutes left in regulation, but Lafayette’s Deonte Robinson scored on a two-yard run, and Menees added the extra point to tie the score at 21. Flyers senior quarterback Peter Simpson threw two touchdown passes in the losing effort, while his counterpart, Lafayette senior Dominic Bisesi, connected on a scoring toss of his own and also led the Lancers on its game-tying drive in the final minutes of regulation play. Lindbergh, Simpson Dominate Oakville in Season Opener

It was a perfect beginning to this season for the Flyers as they silence the fans at Oakville from the very beginning of their 42-0 rout.

It was a perfect beginning to this season for Lindbergh, as the Flyers silenced the fans at Oakville from the very beginning of their 42-0 rout. Meanwhile, it’s back to the drawing board for Oakville, as the Tigers were thoroughly outplayed in all phases of the game. Lindbergh scored touchdowns with its offense, defense and special teams, while the Tigers’ offense struggled to move the ball. The blowout win was the Flyers’ fifth consecutive victory over Oakville. Lindbergh senior QB Peter Simpson led a new-look offense that fired on all cylinders. Simpson threw three touchdown passes in limited minutes, and the Flyers raced to a 28-0 halftime advantage. “Defenders were out of position, allowing receivers to get behind them,” Oakville coach…

Game Preview: New-Look Lindbergh Hoping to Steamroll Oakville Again

The Flyers travel to Suburban West Conference rival Oakville in the regular season opener for both teams.

The Lindbergh Flyers football team travels to Suburban West Conference-rival Oakville on Friday at 7 p.m. in the regular season opener for both teams. Oakville (2-8 last year) will look to avenge last season’s 39-7 loss to the Flyers (9-3 last year). Lindbergh has defeated Oakville in each of the past four seasons. The Tigers return eight offensive starters from their 2010 squad, including senior QB Javon Henderson and all five offensive linemen. Defensively, Oakville will rely on Henderson and brother Jaron Henderson, a senior, to lock down a talented Lindbergh aerial attack. Lindbergh, which made it to the Missouri Class 6 state quarterfinals last season, returns senior QB Peter Simpson, who threw for 2,219 yards, 19 touchdowns and 19 …

2011 Prep Football Preview: Lindbergh Flyers

With 31 seniors back, including QB Peter Simpson and LB Chris Kew, Lindbergh is looking for its third straight Suburban West Conference championship.

SUNSET HILLS—Even with back-to-back Suburban West Conference championships on its résumé, Lindbergh High football coach Tom Beauchamp refuses to let his 2011 club bask in the glow of the program’s past glory. Instead, Beauchamp insists that every one of his Flyer teams develop its own identity and credit its own legacy based on its own success. “First thing I say to them is, 'You aren’t last year, and you aren’t two years ago,'” Beauchamp said. “That was a different team that accomplished those things and won those championships. These guys have to make their own name. They have to be ready to play on their own.” The 2011 Flyers will be hard-pressed to top the accomplishments of the ’09 and ’10 teams, which went 10-1 and 9-3, respectively…

Lindbergh High Releases 2011 Football Schedule

The Flyers open their season on Friday, Aug. 26 at Oakville, and their home opener is Sept. 2 against Lafayette.

With the first day of fall practice set for Monday, Aug. 8, and the first day of school slated for Aug. 15, the Lindbergh High Athletics Department began the official start of its 2011-2012 sporting year by releasing its 2011 varsity, junior varsity, and freshmen football schedules. The three teams, which will play a combined 38 games in 2011, are all set for their first official training camp workouts at 7:30 a.m. on Monday. The Lindbergh varsity will be the first to take the field in 2011, when the Flyers travel to Oakville on Aug. 26 to take on the Tigers at 7 p.m. In last year’s season opener, Lindbergh played one of its best defensive games of the entire season, holding Oakville to less than 100 yards of total offense while then-…
