Lindbergh's Scholar-Athlete Is Also Class President

Lindbergh High School student Ronald Bass was recently announced as one of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch’s 2013 Scholar-Athletes, which is bestowed on one senior from each school in the Post-Dispatch coverage area. The soccer team captain was named second-team all-conference and earned the Mr. Hustle award, according to his profile on Post-Dispatch. But he's also class president and a member of his church choir. Bass told the Post-Dispatch, "I have been singing since I was 7. But it was not until we moved to St. Louis that I truly embraced performing." Learn more about Bass's college plans on Post-Dispatch. This year's 150 scholar-athletes were honored May 15 prior to the Cardinals-Mets game at Busch Stadium, according to Post-Dispatch.

Lindbergh Seniors Win National Merit $2,500 Scholarships
Seniors Tiffany Lee and Vidhan Srivastava each earned a $2,500 scholarship.
Lindbergh High School seniors Vidhan Srivastava and Tiffany Lee have been selected as winners of National Merit $2,500 Scholarships, the Lindbergh School District announced in a news release. Six Lindbergh seniors were named semifinalists last fall. Lee was one of two Missouri high school students to be honored as a 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholar. She also earned perfect scores on her ACT and SAT. Lindbergh Girls Track Earns Conference, District Titles
This year’s Suburban West Conference title is the team’s seventh championship in the past 12 years.
The Lindbergh High School Lady Flyers track team brought home both the conference and district titles this spring, the Lindbergh School District announced in a news release. Lindbergh has laid claim to the district title for the past 12 of 13 years, and this year’s Suburban West Conference title is the team’s seventh championship in the past 12, according to the release. From the Lindbergh School District: During conference competition at Marquette High School on May 1, the Lady Flyer scored 124 points, beating out other top finishers Lafayette, Marquette, Eureka, Oakville and Northwest. The Class 4 District 1 meet took place at Hillsboro High school on May 11.

Drop Off Unwanted Electronics at Sperreng Middle School
The Lindbergh School District is hosting a free electronics recycling event on May 11.
Do you have old computers, televisions or lawn mowers ready for the trash? Safetly dispose of them on Saturday, May 11 through Sperreng Middle School and Midwest Recycling Center. The school will host a free electronics recycling event from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m., rain or shine. Eligible items include: computers (including laptops), printers, keyboards, hard drives, cell phones, pagers, radios, scanners, speakers, DVD and VCRs, fax machines, answering machines, microwaves and other kitchen appliances, furnaces, water heaters, air conditioners, power tools and any lawn and garden equipment (oil and gas must be drained before drop-off). No Danger to Students Following Domestic Disturbance Near Lindbergh High School
Doors at the high school and Early Childhood Education center were kept locked following a notification from St. Louis County Police, according to an announcement from the school district.
Doors were locked as a precautionary measure when a domestic disturbance was reported near Lindbergh High School and Lindbergh Early Childhood Education, the school district announced early Tuesday afternoon. The suspect involved in the domestic disturbance did not enter school property, according to the announcement. The school district posted the following information to their website and Facebook page via Lindbergh High School Principal Ron Helms: "Around 12:20 p.m. today, our School Resource Officer Paul Gordon received a call from St. Louis County Police notifying him of a domestic disturbance that had occurred in a neighborhood east of the high school campus. Teacher Sexually Touched Home-Schooled Student, Police Say
Lake Saint Louis Police said Joseph T. Maddock taught at several schools in St. Louis and St. Charles counties since 2001. He's now being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student.
A teacher is being accused of sexually touching a 10-year-old student during a home school session in Lake Saint Louis. Joseph T. Maddock, charged Monday in St. Charles County with first-degree statutory sodomy, taught at several private and public schools in the St. Louis County and St. Charles County since 2001, including schools in the Rockwood and Lindbergh school districts. Lake Saint Louis Police said Maddock, 34, of the first block of Cedar Bluff in Lake Saint Louis, met the boy and his parents while he was teaching at another school. Police reported he convinced the boy’s parents to teach the boy in a home-school environment. Maddock had been teaching at the boy’s Lake Saint Louis home five days a week during the school year. …

Long Elementary School’s courtyard recently got a big makeover, thanks to the help of students, staff and parents. Learn more about the project, from the Lindbergh School District. Test Drive a Ford, Earn Money for Lindbergh Schools
The first 300 participants to test drive vehicles at Lindbergh High School on Saturday will earn $20 each toward the school district, and be entered to win a free iPad.
Community members age 18 and older are invited to get it in gear for Lindbergh Schools on Saturday, May 4, during the iDrive free test drive event at Lindbergh High School, sponsored by Sunset Ford. The first 300 participants who test drive any one of Ford’s 13 models will be entered for a chance to win a free iPad, according to a news release from the school district. The event is scheduled 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. Ford is donating $20 for each test drive taken, up to $6,000 total, as part of its “Drive One 4UR School” program, according to the release. LHS Orchestra to Play Tribute to WWII Veterans
Student musicians will be performing with a video recording of "Victory at Sea" at their spring concert on April 30.
The Lindbergh High School Symphony Orchestra will honor World War II veterans by performing music to a video recording of “Victory at Sea,” during the annual spring concert at 7 p.m., April 30, in the Lindbergh Auditorium, according to a news release from the Lindbergh School District. “We will be honoring all veterans during the concert, and hope the community will join us in this musical celebration,” LHS orchestra director Sue Rola said. “Victory at Sea” is a documentary television series about Naval warfare during World War II, according to the news release.
