Children 5 years old by Aug. 1 are eligible to start kindergarten this fall.
If your child will be at least five years old before August 1, he or she is eligible for all-day kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year in the Northwest School District - but they must be registered for the full-day program ahead of time. Kindergarten registration will be at Northwest's neighborhood elementary schools. The district is encouraging parents to register their child during the registration period, which will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 26 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 27. The Lindbergh School District has announced kindergarten registration dates for the 2012-13 school year. Parents whose last names begin with A-C should register on March 5; D-G on March 6; H-L on March 7; M-R on March 8; and S-Z on March 9. Registration hours are 9-11 a.m. and 1-3 p.m. All kindergarten students register at the elementary school they will attend: Parents or court-appointed legal guardians should bring: According to state law, a child must be 5 years old before Aug. 1, 2012, to attend kindergarten in August 2012. Lindbergh Schools offers both half-day and full-day kindergarten programs.
