JeffCo Tea Party Founder Announces Bid for Jefferson County Treasurer

Horton will step down from his Tea Party post to seek the county treasurer's position

JeffCo Tea Party founder and small business owner Ken Horton announced a bid for Jefferson County Treasurer at the JeffCo Tea Party meeting on Feb 16.  Horton is stepping down as president of the JeffCo Tea Party in order to pursue the treasurer’s position as a Republican.  Horton has been married to his wife, Patricia, for 14 years. The couple has an 11-year-old daughter.  Horton has been a small business owner for 23 years. He also is a member of the First Baptist Church of Arnold. The election is Aug. 7. Horton will campaign on a platform of transparency with tax dollars.  At the Tea Party meeting, Horton said, “As Jefferson County continues to grow, it’s imperative that the taxpayers know where their money is going.”  Horton wants to …

Linda, which vote are you referring to where "three Council members" voted against to cut funds to the Sheriff's Office? The budget passed with a vote of 6-1. As a matter of fact, two of the three council members you refer to invited the Sheriff to the work session to ask him how he wanted the additional funds appropriated.
