Local Teams Will Headline the 2013 Coaches vs Cancer Shootout

Vianney, Lindbergh, MICDS, SLUH, DeSmet, Duchesne and CBC will be participating.

Basketball fans won’t want to miss a day filled with premiere high school basketball games to benefit a cause that’s close to so many. The American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer® Shootout presented by Ameren Missouri is set for January 31 at Scottrade Center. Local high school coaches and volunteers of the American Cancer Society Coaches vs. Cancer program  have teamed up to plan an event that will benefit research, education, advocacy and free patient services for local communities.  Seven games will be played throughout the day, with the first game starting at 10 a.m. and the final contest set for 8:30 p.m.  The matchups include programs from Illinois, Missouri, and Kentucky.  More details and ticket information is available at www.…

Lindbergh Falls in Final Conference Game

Tiger seniors hit threes to start, and free throws to ice it at the end.

Oakville’s seniors were money on senior night at home against Lindbergh in the final Suburban West Conference regular season game for both teams. Senior Austin Cibulka got things going with two 3-pointers, and senior Alec McChesney hit from the foul line to ice it. In the end, Oakville out-paced Lindbergh 48-42. Lindbergh ends the regular season at 4-4, (12-13 in Suburban West Conference). Oakville finishes at 5-3, (8-17 in conference). “Our seniors came out and set the tone early,” Oakville coach Nick Traxler said. “They had a great first five minutes of the game, and everybody was pumped up from there.” The score was 16-14 after the first quarter.
