Flu shots to be dispensed before the onset of the main flu season.
The Jefferson County Health Department will dispense flu shots from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the Jefferson County Library, Arnold Branch, 1701 Missouri State Rd. The flu shot clinic will be in the Arnold Jaycees Community Room. For residents of the Rockwood School District, flu shots will be available at several schools through Nov. 8. The cost of the flu shots in the Jefferson County program is $25. Residents are asked to bring a medicare card or health insurance card with them at the time of the shot. For the Rockwood schools' program, flu shots are $20 for Rockwood employees and their immediate families, or $28 for Rockwood students and community members. For each flu shot given to a student or community member, $3 will be donated …

SSM Health Care will not hire those who smoke and will require flu shots for employees.
SSM Health Care annouced two new policies that it says are designed to create a safer environment for patients and a healthier overall workforce. Starting July 1, SSM will implement a tobacco-free hiring policy at all SSM facilities in Missouri and mandatory flu vaccinations for all employees across the SSM Health Care system. “As a health-care provider, we need to take a leadership role on these major public health issues,” said Sister Mary Jean Ryan, chairman and CEO of SSM Health Care, in a news release. “Not hiring tobacco users is a first step toward creating a healthier workforce, and mandatory flu vaccinations will help protect our patients, our colleagues and their families.” The tobacco-free hiring policy only applies to the …
