Eureka beats Lindbergh, 75-60, in a key Suburban West Conference game. Each team entered the matchup undefeated in league play.
The Lindbergh and Eureka varsity girls basketball teams battled on Tuesday night for what will probably be the deciding game for the Suburban West Conference championship. Each team entered this matchup at Eureka undefeated. Eureka (15-5) took the lead early and never looked back in a 75-60 win. The win gives the Wildcats a 6-0 conference record while Lindbergh (14-6) falls to 3-1 in conference play. Lindbergh freshman guard LaTondra Brooks led the Flyers with 21 points. She scored 11 points in the first half, and then drilled all five of her fouls shots in the second half. Senior guard Keonia Blair, who averages 20.6 points per game, scored 16 points in the game. In an age when change seems to be the only constant, Bill Thoele stands as a testament to consistency and stamina. Thoele is entering his third decade as the head coach of the Lindbergh High School girl's basketball program, and he is as enthusiastic as ever. The Flyers are coming off a respectable 15-10 season, but had a disappointing 4-4 showing in the Suburban West Conference last year. They made it to a class 5A/district 6 playoff game only to be beaten by the Cor Jesu Chargers, a team that played on to the Final Four in Columbia, MO. The team is already 2-0 this season after winning, 75-43, over Seckman on Tuesday night. This year's squad features two returning seniors: point guard Keonia Blair and forward Andrea Klipsch. Blair was …
