Elks Want to Expand with Fenton Lodge
Members of neighboring lodges try to attract 100 members for form new chapter in Fenton.
Fenton-area Elks Club members are holding a membership drive in the city next month to try and bolster their ranks and start a new chapter in the city. The Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks (BPOE) is a fraternal, non-profit organization founded in 1868 with a long history of charitable works. Russ Suda, BPOE membership chairman, said the only requirements to join is to be an American citizen over the age 21, and to have a belief in God. Even though Suda belongs to the High Ridge Lodge 2455, he and others with membership in the Meramec (Arnold) Lodge 2372, are meeting at 7 p.m. every Wednesday night at the Gravois Grill to try and sign up new members. “We are one of the largest, American-established organizations in the country…
