Monsanto sponsored program is aimed at helping non-profit organizations with their projects
Bark Park at Unger has held its fundraisers, done its research and formed several committees aimed at establishing a dog park in St. Louis County's Unger Park in the Fenton area. Now, organizer Darlys Preslar is hoping everyone will keep its paws crossed that the group will win a grant from Grow St. Louis, a Monsanto initiative aimed at supporting non-profit groups in the St. Louis area by awarding grants of up to $20,000. Preslar says the Bark Park at Unger has been selected as a finalist for a $20,000 prize and it needs everyone's help. Proceeds from Rover's Rummage Sale will benefit the creation of a dog park at Unger Park in Fenton.
Organizers with the Bark Park at Unger are seeking donations for a rummage sale in May. Proceeds from Rover's Rummage Sale will benefit the proposed permanent dog park, which would be built at Unger Park in Fenton. Organizers are trying to raise money for a shelter building, some fences and a dock from which water-friendly dogs can leap into the lake. The event will be held at 924 San Sebastian on Saturday, May 11 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. A presale is scheduled for Friday May 10 from 5 - 9 p.m. There is a $5 fee for entrance to the presale. Donations for the sale can be dropped off starting Sunday, May 5 at 924 San Sebastian. Volunteers will be on hand to price the items. The Bark Park at Unger organization, which hopes to build a dog park in Unger Park in Fenton, is teaming up with the Animal House Cat Shelter on a trivia night that will benefit both organizations. The event will be at 6:30 p.m. Mar. 2 at American Legion Post 162, 9305 S. Broadway, in Lemay. The Animal House/Bark Park Trivia Night will feature cash prizes for the three top teams, a variety of raffle baskets, attendance prizes, and mulligans. Animal-friendly vendors also will be there displaying their wares. The event is $20 per person, with up to eight people per table. The price includes beer, soda and water. It was a brisk, breezy, beautiful dog day afternoon Sunday as the organizers of a drive to build a dog park showed off their location in St. Louis County's Unger Park at an event it called Woofstock. A few vendors battled the light winds as a wide variety of dogs strolled along the park's hiking trail sniffing the merchandise and each other. Some even took the opportunity to take a swim in the large lake in the park. Check out all of the photos from Woofstock on the Fenton High Ridge Patch Facebook page. The organizers of a proposed dog park in Fenton - Bark Park at Unger - have announced the list of activities scheduled for its first fund raiser, called "Woofstock," to be from 1 to 5 p.m. Oct. 7 at St. Louis County's Unger Park. The Bark Park at Unger committee needs to raise $100,000 to $125,000 to construct the basics of a dog park. It will be completely funded by the nonprofit group which will raise the funds and maintain the park. Future plans include a dock where dogs can leap into the lake, a beach area for wading, an agility area and separate fenced areas for small and large dogs. The committee to establish Bark Park at Unger, the first dog park in a St. Louis County Park, has scheduled it's first fundraiser - “Woofstock” - from 2 to 4 p.m. at St. Louis County's Unger Park in Fenton, sort of a "peace, love and yappiness" affair.
