Rockwood South Middle School is part of the expansive Rockwood School District. It serves more than 950 students in the Fenton area of the district and the Missouri Equity Center has recognized Rockwood South as a School of Excellence.

Rockwood South was also recognized by the Missouri Department of Education as a "Top Ten Most Improved" school for improved math scores on state assessment tests. In addition, the school is a Community Service Award winner through the Gateway Young Achievers program.

Rockwood South's large campus on Hawkins Road includes athletic facilities for the 6th, 7th and 8th graders who attend school in this facility.
