Bowles Elementary School, part of the Rockwood School Distrtict, is located in the southwest part of the Fenton area. Students from Bowles move on to Rockwood South Middle School and then to Rockwood Summit High School.

Bowles Elementary is one of only nine schools in the state to receive a School of Excellence Award from the Missouri Schools of Character Awards program. The school also was named as a "Top Ten" school in mathematics in 2008-09. In 2006, Bowles was the recipient of a Character Promising Practices Award through the Character Education Partnership. The school mascot is the cougar.
