Youthful Community Spirit Students Sought

Prudential Financial is seeking students nationwide for recognition of their community efforts. Last year's national winner was Fenton's Alexander Kehm.

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program is seeking youth volunteers from every state in America.

This year, student Alexander Kehm, 17 of Fenton, was a state and national winner in the program. Alexander spearheaded a program in which he collected new and used soccer equipment and donated it to underprivileged youth worldwide.

State-level honorees receive an engraved silver medallion and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C. where the national winner is announced

The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program has started its search its search for America’s top youth volunteers for 2012.

In addition to Alexander, Jacob Mozer, 14, of Blue Springs, was named  named Missouri's top youth volunteers this year, selected from an outstanding group of young Missouri residents who were recognized at the local level for their community service. Jacob was honored for helping his family raise $500,000 by selling lemonade in stands throughout the Kansas City metropolitan area.

The annual Prudential Financial Spirit of Community Awards program is gearing up to honor America's youth volunteers for 2012. The annual awards are sponsored in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Through Nov. 1, students in Fifth through 12th Grades for a Prudential Spirit of Community Award at http://spirit.prudential.com or www.nassp.org/spirit.
