Soccer Park on Display at 10th Annual Showcase Event

The A-B Soccer Park in Fenton hosted the 10th annual Parkway College Showcase soccer tournament. Rockwood Summit split its two games.

The in Fenton hosted the 10th Annual Parkway College Showcase soccer tournament last Friday and Saturday. Thirty-four high school teams and six college teams participated.

girls soccer split its two games in the tournament. The Falcons defeated Jefferson City, 2-0, on Friday night to move to 7-0 this season. Summit dropped (7-1) a tough 3-2 game on Saturday night to Highland Park.

The Falcons have been led this season with three goals each from Kristen Brewer and Maxine Peat. Christie Seilfleisch has handled most of the goalkeeping, and has a 5-0 mark in the net.

On Friday night, two matches were played at Parkway Central, and three at Parkway West Stadium.

played Parkway Central in a fast-paced game on Saturday night, and the Tigers won 3-0. Oakville received goals from junior Emily Pedroli, freshman Lexi Pommer and junior Sara Bommarito. The Tigers are now 6-1, while the Colts dropped to 5-1.

Goalkeeper freshman Tina Haberberger recorded the shutout on six saves. Parkway Central sophomore goalkeeper Sydney Stephens faced 15 shots, allowing three goals. Parkway Central beat Sacred Heart-Griffin 2-0 on Friday.

On Friday, Oakville shutout Hazelwood West (5-7), 3-0. The Tigers received goals from Pedroli, junior Ashley Burton and junior Chloe Hutcheson as Haberberger notched the shutout on six saves. Next for Oakville is a home game against Lafayette on Tuesday at 4:15 p.m.

Parkway West defeated Fort Zumwalt North, 2-1, on Saturday night. The Longhorns improved to 5-1. Junior Madeline Wells and senior Maggie Wenstrup each scored a goal, and senior goalkeeper Meghan Dolan made seven saves.

For Parkway South, a 1-0 victory over Kickapoo on Friday was followed by a 6-1 loss on Saturday to  Neuqua Valley.

The Marquette girls lost 2-1 to Belleville West on Friday night.

It was a long, busy day for Soccer Park. Even as the tournament wound down, the banquet facility there held a wedding reception.
