NextStep for Life athletes advance to Missouri Special Olympics Fall Games

The NextStep for Life Bocce Team, of Jefferson County, recently competed in the   St. Louis Metro Special Olympics Area Bocce Tournament at Washington University, bringing home nine gold, four silver, six bronze and two fourth place awards. The team has doubled in size this year to 25 athletes. 

The installation of new bocce courts at the NextStep facility in Herculaneum allowed the team to polish its skills. It now is preparing for the Missouri Special Olympics State Fall Games in Cape Girardeau on Oct. 12.

Nineteen bocce athletes will advance to the tournament, along with three NextStep for Life softball teams.
