FOOLS Set Washers Tournament to Aid Backstoppers

The annual tournament will be held this year in memory of Steve Grimes, a Fenton firefighter who died last year following a battle with leukemia.

The Show Me FOOLS and , 568 Old Smizer Mill Road, Fenton, are teaming up to sponsor a Washers Tournament to benefit Backstoppers, Inc. in memory of Steve Grimes, a Fenton firefighter who died last year following a battle with leukemia.

The tournament will be at 5 p.m. June 14 at d. Dooley's with registration from 4 to 6 p.m. Fees are $30 per team or $15 per person. There also will be raffle and door prizes.

FOOLS stands for Fraternal Order Of Leatherheads Society. The group takes its name from the iconic leather helmet that firemen used to wear. FOOLS was started in 1995 in Florida and Show Me FOOLS is one of four Missouri chapters.. Many of the washers tournament participants will be Fenton firefighters and from   from neighboring fire districts, by the event is open to anyone.
