Two New Northwest School District Principals Named

Murphy Elementary and Valley Middle schools to have new principals in the 2013-14

The Northwest School District has announced two new school principals for the 2013-2014 school year

Katie Brettschneider has been named as the principal of Murphy Elementary School. Brettschneider currently is assistant principal of Drummond Elementary School in the Pattonville School District, a position she has held since 2012. She also served for five years as an elementary insructional specialist.

Brettschneider possesses a Masters degree in educational leadership from Aurora University and a degree in elementary and special education from Lindenwood University.

Brettschneider succeeds Murphy Elementary principal Jeff Boyer, who is retiring June 30.

At Valley Middle School, Geoff Macy will become the new principal at the start of the 2013-14 school year. Macy currently is assistant principal at Northwest High School, a position he has held since 2010. Macy has been employed by the Northwest School District since 2007. During his six years in the district, Macy also served as a physical education teacher, a football and baseball coach and also was promoted to administrative intern.

Macy has been employed by Northwest since 2007.

Prior to joining Northwest, Macy spent nine years in the St. Louis Public Schools system - six as a teacher/coach, two as a dean of students and one year as an athletic director.

Macy possesses two master’s degrees, in education and educational leadership, from Lindenwood University and a bachelor's degree in education from Central Methodist University.

Macy will succeed Clint Freeman as principal at Valley Middle School.
