Kennerly Principal and Teachers Were All Wet Saturday at the School's 50th Birthday Party

Kennerly Elementary School Celebrates 50 years with a mini festival, Dad's BBQ and many events and games.

Place a school principal in a dunking booth it is guaranteed to draw a crowd of grade school students. They may never have recess again.

Principal Suzanne Christopher assumed the dunking booth perch at the school's 50th birthday party Saturday and before you could say "Class is now in session," a long line of kids were plunking down cold, hard cash to buy three chances to dunk the principal.

And they did. Over and over again. Until dressed-up 5th grade teacher Nick Argint replaced Christopher in the dunk tank. Argint made his foray into the tank wearing dress clothes.

It was all in the fun of the party that also included three-legged races, a pie-eating contest, barbecue made by some of the dads at the school, and even a charity "jail" where it cost money to send someone to and then bail them out of the makeshift jail.

The informal event at Kennerly also included filling a Kennerly time capsule that would include a poster signed by students and a variety of other items.

Christopher wasn't the only principal on hand Saturday. Past principal Steve Suess was there, as was next year's principal, who will assume Christopher's post for the 2012-13 school year. And although Morgan took a turn in the dunking booth, it was Christopher who attracted the most attention, as well as attracting the the accurate throws from her students who sent her tumbling into the dunk tank.
