Rockwood Summit Lacrosse Team Takes State Title

The team avenges a 2011 title game loss and ends season on an 11-game winning streak.

’s club boys lacrosse team won the Missouri State Division II Championship on May 26 at Lindenwood University.  To secure the championship, the team defeated John Burroughs 12-6.  Coach Jordan Stannard attributes the team’s accomplishment to the players.  “Our success stemmed directly from our mission to work hard every single day at practice,” said Stannard in a news release from the Rockwood School District.  “We came each day with a fresh attitude and a desire and need to improve.”

In 2011, the team made it to the state championship game, but lost in overtime.  According to Stannard, after that loss, the attitude of the team changed.  “Our collective attitude was that no one would deny us what was ours this year.  In the final minutes of the game, a sense of elation came over all of us; our hard work paid off.”

In addition to clinching the championship title, the team finished the season on an 11-game winning streak.
