Northwest Sets Kindergarten Registration Dates

Children 5 years old by Aug. 1 are eligible to start kindergarten this fall.

If your child will be at least five years old before August 1, he or she is eligible for all-day kindergarten for the 2013-2014 school year in the Northwest School District - but they must be registered for the full-day program ahead of time.

Kindergarten registration will be at Northwest's neighborhood elementary schools. The district is encouraging parents to register their child during the registration period, which will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Feb. 26 and from 9 to 11 a.m. Feb. 27. If the school district is closed on either day due to inclement weather, registration will be canceled. The make-up registration time is from 4 to 7 p.m. March 5.

For more information about kindergarten registration, parents may visit the district's website: www.nwr1.k12.mo.us and click on the link entitled “Prospective Parents.” Parents will find enrollment information, including what they need to bring for registration, and which elementary school their kindergarten student will attend by using the Versatran link and entering their home address.
