Northwest School District Honored With Leadership Team Award

Only 11 school districts in Missouri achieved the designation.

The Missouri School Boards’ Association (MSBA) recently announced that the Northwest School District Board of Education again is a recipient of the association's Leadership Team Award.

The award, given to only 11 of Missouri's 523 school districts this year, is based on the outstanding commitment to ongoing professional development, to regional and statewide leadership, and to active participation in legislative advocacy for public schools by the school board and superintendent.

In order to obtain this recognition, the school district has met several standards, including:

·All seven school board members in each awarded district must have obtained Essential Certification from MSBA.

  • At least two board members must have attained the advanced level of certification from MSBA.
  • At least one board member must have attained attained the Master's level of certification.
  • A quorum of the board and superintendent must hgave attended MSBA’s 2011 Annual Conference.
  • A quorum of the board and superintendent must have attended either MSBA's 2011 Fall Regional or 2012 Spring Regional meetings.
  • The district must have been represented at MSBA's 2012 Legislative Forum in Jefferson City.
  • A representative must have participated in MSBA's Delegate Assembly.

2012 Leadership Team Award winners were formally recognized at MSBA's Leadership Summit June 15 at the Columbia Holiday Inn Select Executive Center.
