Northwest's Zachary McKenney, Summit's Eric Beisel Named to All Star Squad
The two local ballplayers will compete June 16 at Busch Stadium.
Zachary McKenney, of and Eric Beisel, of , have been named to opposing squads in the second annual Smiles League Coaches' Choice High School Seniors All-Star baseball game, to be played on June 16 following the 1:15 p.m. St. Louis Cardinals vs. Kansas City Royals game. Admission to the All-Star game is free.
Cardinals alumni players Scott Cooper and Kerry Robinson will coach the two teams. This is the second year for both coaching in the all-star game.
McKenney will be on Cooper's Blue Team. Beisel will be a part of Robinson's Green Team. Beisel, an outfielder for the state champion Rockwood Summit Falcons and a highly regarded football prospect, drove in the winning run in the chamipionship final June 2 with a long single against the outfield wall.

Cooper is a St. Louis native who played high school baseball for Pattonville, spent seven years in the major leagues, and was a member of the American League All-Star team in 1993 and 1994.
Robinson also is a St. Louis native. He was a three-sport athlete for Hazelwood and played for the Tampa Bay Rays, and was a Cardinal from 2001-2003. He appeared in postseason play in 2001 and 2002.

Delta Dental of Missouri is a sponsor of the game along with the St. Louis Cardinals. Each All-Star player has signed a tobacco-free pledge, acknowledging they do not smoke or chew, and outlining their willingness to advocate no-smoking and no-chewing choices among Missouri's youth.
