Northwest Receives High Marks From Missouri Education Department

District meets goal in 13 of 14 performance standards

The Northwest School District reports this morning that the district received high marks from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) in its release of Annual Performance Report (APR) results.

The state's APR reviews Missouri school districts serving students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. The report is based on 14 standards related to academic achievement. The academic areas include Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) test results, attendance and graduation rates, ACT test sores, Advanced Placement (AP) tests, and other indicators. In order to be fully accredited, a school district must meet at least nine of the fourteen accreditation standards for academic performance. Northwest met 13 standards.

The APR is also used to determine districts achieving the Distinction in Performance Award. School districts must meet at least thirteen out of fourteen performance standards, including all six MAP standards. The preliminary data indicates that for the ninth consecutive year, Northwest will receive Distinction in Performance.
