Northwest Teachers of the Year Named; Apple, Golden Bell Awards Given

Each school's nominee will be eligible for the districtwide recognition at a ceremony on May 9.

An employee recognition program in the Northwest R-1 School District will culminate in the naming of  a districtwide Teacher of the Year at an awards ceremony on May 9. Each Northwest school has a teacher in the running.

In addition, the Apple Award (for certified staff members) and Golden Bell Award (for support staff) will be presented to several Northwest employees.

The Teacher of the Year program is designed to honor and recognize the efforts certified teachers. The individual school teachers of the year, and nominees for the district-wide designation, are:

  • John Baker – High Ridge Elementary, third grade teacher
  • Lisa Quinn – Murphy Elementary, fourth grade teacher
  • Jennifer Vanlandingham – House Springs Elementary, fourth grade teacher
  • Carla Hughes – Brennan Woods Elementary, library media specialist
  • Charla Lashley – Maple Grove Elementary, first grade teacher
  • Kathy Scholtes – North Jefferson Intermediate, special education teacher
  • Charlotte Hodges – House Springs Intermediate, sixth grade teacher
  • Lori Knoblauch – Northwest Valley, seventh grade social studies teacher
  • Katherine Gilbert – Northwest High School, gifted language arts teacher
  • Pamela Helferstay – Northwest High School, math teacher

The recipients of the Apple awards are:

  • Teresa Galeotti – High Ridge Elementary, speech therapist
  • Donna Korff – High Ridge Elementary, art teacher
  • Kimberly Quentin – North Jefferson Intermediate, principal
