Northwest High School Sings Its Heart Out

Northwest High School holds its annual Northwest Idol singing competition.

Wednesday night marked the beginning of Northwest Idol, a three-night competition at Northwest High School, designed after the popuar American Idoltelevision show.

15 students competed in front of an audience of hundreds. A panel of judges, with the help of audience ballots, decided on a group of ten students who will move on to the semi-finals on this evening.

Those who made it through the Wednesday portion included Stephanie Folks, Rachael Munhofen, Molly Flower, Matt Arndt, Shiann Hareford, Riley Price, Annabelle Gyngard, Briana Tomlinson, Casey Richards, and Sarah Adams. They will compete this evening with new songs. The top five performers will compete once more on Friday for the chance to be the Northwest Idol.

Tickets to the shows are $5, with the proceeds going to benefit the choir and theatre departments.

The Wednesday [erformnces also included Harry Potter themed skits by the drama club, and a performance by the kindergarten through eighth grade students who recently attended the Northwest High School Glee Camp.
