Local Students Score Big on Duke TIP Talent Search

Students were recognized based on their scores on college entrance exams.

In the 2011-20112 Duke Talent Search, or Duke TIP, 139 seventh-grade students from Rockwood’s six middle schools achieved state or grand level recognition based on their scores on college entrance exams, according to a news release from the district.  These students are among the more than 63,000 students nationwide who participated in the Duke TIP by taking the ACT or SAT alongside of high school students; and many earned scores that rival or surpass those achieved by older students.    

“We are proud of our students’ achievements in the Duke TIP," said Jim Wipke, Rockwood School District's executive director of secondary education.  “Their scores are impressive and a reflection of their abilities, motivation and potential for success in high school, college and beyond.”

The students will be recognized along with other Board of Education award recipients during a ceremony on at 7 p.m. April 26 at Crestview Middle School.
