Lindbergh Teachers Pay Hike Deemed 'An Improvement'

Pay raise of 2.8 percent will be spread over two years.

Lindbergh School District's Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to give a 2.8 percent salary increase to teachers, averaged over the next two years.

Per a request by the Lindbergh National Education Associaton (LNEA), teachers will receive a bigger pay increase the first year, and the remainder the following year.

Board President Vic Lenz said Tuesday negotiations between the district and teachers’ union went “beautifully,” but he worried the district’s salary scale put it at a disadvantage in attracting the best teachers.

The teachers approved the contract by a four-to-one margin, 118 to 29. Apparently, many teachers did not cast ballots.

LNEA President Scott Fleming described the agreement simply as "an improvement."

District officials said the pay increases would cover cost of living increases over the next two years.

The teachers’ contract will be considered for final approval during the June 14 board meeting.
