Lindbergh School Board President to Lead MSBA

Vic Lenz was named MSBA president at summit in Columbia this weekend.

Lindbergh Schools Board of Education President Vic Lenz is the new president of the Missouri School Boards’ Association, according to a news release from the district. Lenz became MSBA president at the conclusion of the 2011 MSBA Leadership Summit last week in Columbia, MO.

The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a private, not-profit group that exists to help public school boards lobby and organize. Many school boards have members dedicated to coordinating with the MSBA.

As MSBA president, Lenz will chair the statewide Education Round Table and Service Connection, serve on the Futurebuilders Foundation Board, work with MSBA’s 17 regional leadership committees and represent Missouri to the National School Boards’ Association.

During his remarks at the Leadership Summit, Lenz urged school board members to become even stronger advocates for public education and engage in shaping the future of the public schools in Missouri.

“President Thomas Jefferson believed that an educated citizenry is the basis of our democracy,” Lenz said. “In order to have an educated citizenry we must have a strong system of public education, and every student must have access to a quality free public education. With the visioning project that is being developed as a guideline, MSBA is going to be enhancing its advocacy programs and asking for increased effort in shaping legislation that will strengthen Missouri’s public schools.”
