Letters Signed, Lindbergh Athletes Decide on College

High school football is over and these Lindbergh seniors look toward college play.

Their high school football career is finished, and now eight football players at Lindbergh High School have signed letters of intent to take their football talents to the college gridirons for the 2011-12 school year.

The signees are:

  • Chris Collins – Arizona Western College
  • Timothy Hamm-Bey – Southeast Missouri State University
  • Matt Klingler and Cole McKinnon – St. Ambrose University
  • Tom Million – Truman State University, Tony Robinson – College of DuPage
  • Adam Schremp – Missouri Western State University
  • Sam Smith – University of Central Missouri

Coach Tom Beauchamp said he is proud of his senior class, which led the team to a 19-4 combined record over the last two years.

“They’ve been a strong group for us,” Beauchamp said in a press release. “It’s great seeing such a wonderful group of guys going to play college football.”

Lindbergh community relations director Beth Cross provided the details of the students who will be playing college football in the fall.

Chris Collins – Arizona Western College, Yuma, AZ

Defensive lineman Chris Collins was named to third team for All-Metro, second team for Suburban West All-Conference and second team for All-State Coaches Poll in 2010. Next year, he will join the Matadors at Arizona Western College.

Timothy Hamm-Bey – Southeast Missouri State University, Cape Girardeau, MO

Defensive back/returner Timothy Hamm-Bey has been playing football for 11 years, and most recently was named to second team for Suburban West All-Conference 2010. His most memorable football moment at Lindbergh was defeating Eureka twice. Hamm-Bey is heading to SEMO next year where he plans to major in International Business and play football as a Redhawk.

Matt Klingler – St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IA

Matt Klingler has been a versatile teammate, playing middle linebacker, tight end, kicker and punter during his years as a Flyer. He is also a member of Link Crew and Character Council. In 2010, Klingler was named to first team for the 2010 All-State Coaches Poll and third team for Suburban West All-Conference. He plans to major in art or architecture at St. Ambrose University, where he will play football for the Fighting Bees.

Cole McKinnon – St. Ambrose University, Davenport, IA

Linebacker and offensive lineman Cole McKinnon will also head to St. Ambrose as a Fighting Bee in fall 2011. As a Flyer, his most memorable moment was when he made a key block, allowing teammate Timothy Hamm-Bey to score during a game at Mizzou. McKinnon was named most improved player on the varsity and junior varsity teams during his time at Lindbergh, and received the Ironman award twice. Outside of football, he has received seven Renaissance awards, was a Renaissance teacher choice recipient, and won the Superior Missouri Award for Layout and Design, for the LHS Spirit Yearbook. McKinnon plans to major in journalism at St. Ambrose.

Tom Million – Truman State University, Kirksville, MO

Defensive Tackle Tom Million has been playing football for five years and was named to second team Suburban West Conference in 2010. He said his best football moment was completing Lindbergh’s first ever undefeated regular season in 2009. In addition to playing football, Million was on Link Crew for two years and is a Renaissance recipient. He will play football as a Truman State Bulldog, and plans to study nursing.

Tony Robinson – College of DuPage, Glen Ellyn, IL

Defensive end Tony Robinson’s most memorable moment at Lindbergh was breaking the school’s quarterback sack record with 24 in one season. In addition, he was named 2009 and 2010 Suburban West All-Conference first team, 2009 Defensive All-Conference Player of the Year, 2009 and 2010 All-State 6A first team, and 2009 and 2010 All-Metro first team. Robinson plans to major in construction management at College of DuPage, where he will play with the Chaparrals.

Adam Schremp – Missouri Western State University, St. Joseph, MO

Adam Schremp has played football for six years, most recently as a receiver for the Flyers, where he was named 2010 Suburban West Defensive Player of the Year and qualified for first team All-Metro and first team All-State Coaches Poll. Schremp also made the 2010 Suburban West All-Conference first team, and his most memorable moment in football was making it to the state quarterfinals. Off the field, Schremp broke two school records and won three state medals running varsity track for three years. He plans to major in construction engineering and pre-architecture at Missouri Western State University, where he will compete as a Griffon.

Sam Smith – University of Central Missouri, Warrensburg, MO

Sam Smith has played football for six years, most recently as a linebacker for the Flyers, where his favorite memory was winning his first career playoff game against Eureka. Smith is a four-year Renaissance recipient and was named to the 2010 All-State Coaches Poll first team and 2010 Suburban West All-Conference first team. At the University of Central Missouri, he plans to study criminal justice and compete with the Mules for Coach Jim Svoboda.
