Jefferson County Parks and Rec Sponsors Soccer, Jujitsu Programs

Youth instructional programs in its 23rd year.

The Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Department will again sponsor a Youth Instructional Soccer Program, now in its 23rd year. The program, which emphasizes instruction, learning and fun, will play on nine Saturdays at the Northwest Jefferson County Sports Complex, near House Springs, beginning September 22, The first three Saturdays will be devoted to instruction; the last six will be league play.

Three age groups are offered: ages 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12 at each location. All teams are co-ed. Entry fee, which includes a T-shirt, shorts and medal for each player, is $60. Registration is currently being taken, with a deadline for registration of September 12 for the House Springs program unless the program fills prior to this date. Paid referees and volunteer coaches still are needed.

The Parks and Recreation Department also will also be sponsoring Martial Arts Classes at the High Ridge Civic Center beginning September 4, 2012. The coed classes are designed for ages 6 and up, and will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This class will allow the students to improve their mind, body and spirit through training in the art of Jujitsu. Cost for this class is $30 per student.
