The governor will address the 440 graduates and their families; Joplin support drive is being held in conjunction with the ceremony.

Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon will deliver the keynote address Saturday at Northwest High School at the annual commencement exercises. The governor is scheduled to address the more than 440 graduating seniors, their families and Northwest staff as it celebrates a year of educational success.

The ceremony will be at 10:30 a.m.

"It's kind of a neat thing, and an honor for the kids to have the governor at their graduation," said Paul Ziegler, superintendent of the Northwest R-1 School District.
