Gary Ujka Has a Library He Can Call His Own

The Rockwood Middle School Library now will be the Gary Ujka Library Media Center.

Rockwood South Middle School staff members, adminstrators, family and friends gathered ta the school Tuesday to dedicate its library to its long-serving assistant principal Gary Ujka, who is retiring from education after 32 years, 31 of them at Rockwood South.

The school library now will be known as the Gary Ujka Library Media Center.

Rockwood South Principal Linda Miller praised Ujka at Tuesday's ceremony, noting his dedication to students, teachers and school issues and remarking that he is "a show-up kind of guy."

Considering the amount of time Ujka spent in the school cafeteria supervising students, several people joked that naming the cafeteria after Ujka would have been more appropriate.

At the end of the ceremony there was a special presentation as the Parent Sevice Organization presented Ujka with a rocking chair for him to enjoy during his retirement.

The inscription on the rocker said, Z"Rock on Mr. Ujka."
