Children's Book Author Makes Donation to Murphy Elementary School Library

School librarian enters contest to receive copies of the latest book by author Roland Smith

When nationally known children’s book author Roland Smith promoted an email contest for educators, Northwest School District library media specialist Stefanie Tisius decided to enter on behalf of . Participants were asked to explain why they would like to receive an autographed set of Smith's new novel,  Peak. Tisius explained that the books would make a good addition to the school library since 5th grade classes would be added to the school this year. 

 Recently  Tisius found out she was selected as a winner. She will be adding many of the books to the school library. Other titles will be available as resources for teachers.

Roland Smith is an acclaimed chidren's literature author who has won "book of the year" awards in several states, including his native Oregon, where he was a zookeeper for 20 years before turning to writing. Peak chronicles the adventures of “Peak Marcello, who is arrested for scaling a New York City skyscraper and is given two choices: wither away in Juvenile Detention or join his long-lost father who runs a climbing company in Thailand.” More about Smith's books and his career can be found on his website at http://www.rolandsmith.com/
