City, School Board Candidate Filing Period Opens Tuesday

Municipal and school board seats are up for grabs in the April 3, 2012 local election.

Candidates interested in throwing their hats in the ring for public office may do so starting Tuesday as the filing period for city and school elections begins.

in the City of Fenton, there will be four potential vacancies as the terms of four aldermen expire in April. The four aldermen are Harold Bade (Ward1), Mike Beiser (Ward 2), Dan Borgard (Ward 3) and Jim Mauler (Ward4).  Candidates may file for the Apr.3, 2012 municipal election starting at 8 a.m. Tuesday. The filing period ends at 5 p.m. Jan. 17.

Filing also starts Tuesday in the Northwest, Lindbergh and Rockwood School districts.

At Northwest, the school board terms of Brian Haskins and Chris Shelton will expire next April.  Interested candidates must file a written declaration of candidacy in person at the district office, 2843 Community Lane, High Ridge. Candidates will be placed on the ballot in order of filing.

The district office is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except for Dec. 22 to Jan. 2 when it will be closed for the holiday break, and on Jan. 16. The office also may be closed due to inclement weather. For more information, call 636-677-3473.

In the Rockwood School District, the terms of Geoff Rigabar and Peggy Devoy are set to expire next April.

Candidates must declare their candidacy in writing at Rockwood's Administrative Offices, 111 E. North St., Eureka district offices from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. starting Tuesday. The office will be closed on school holidays but will be open until 5 p.m. Jan. 17.

In the Lindbergh School District, The terms of Kenneth Fey and Mark Rudoff will expire in April. Interested candidates need to file their candidacy declaration in person in the superintendent's office, 4900 South Lindbergh Blvd. from 8 to 4:30 p.m. starting Tuesday.  The office daily except for Dec. 23, 26 and 30, and Jan. 2 and 16.  Filing will be extended until 5 p.m. on Jan 17, the last day of the filing period.

In all school districts, to be eligible, candidates must be a citizen of the United States, a resident taxpayer of the district they wish to represent, a resident of Missouri for one year preceding the election and at least 24 years of age.
