Wine, Eggs and Helping Animals

Nothing is better than having fun at a beautiful local winery and helping a good cause at the same time. I had a chance to talk with passionate and inspiring animal lovers before the egg hunt began.

This is the season for Easter celebrations.  I love Easter.  In addition to celebrating the great Easter story at my church, the weather is wonderful.  Flowers dot the landscape and the smell of lilac fills the air.

This year, I attended a great Easter Adult Egg Hunt hosted by the Jefferson County Pet Food Pantry at the Persimmon Ridge Winery in Barnhart. Nothing is better than having fun at a beautiful local winery and helping a good cause at the same time. Animal lovers are some of the best people around, and I had a great time meeting so many of them as we anxiously awaited the chance to hunt eggs.  In attendance were volunteers from various rescue organizations around the county. I also had a wonderful chat with Debby Mikles of the Jefferson County Food Pantry and learned about all the work she is doing to help families with pets in Jefferson County, of course when she is NOT filling and hiding dozens of Easter eggs.

The passion and dedication of each of these volunteers is inspiring.  Their main goal is to place healthy pets with loving homes. As I said, these good folks inspired me to pass along an interesting fact to you today.  Did you know that information about animals available for adoption at Jefferson County Animal Control can be found online?  I do now, and so do you!  If you are looking to add a pet to your family, look no further than in our own county.

Also, if your pet becomes lost, you can look for them online as well.  I hope you and your family (both two and four-legged members) have a wonderful Easter.
