Hellllllooooooooooo Farnoldians!

A woman who lives in what most would call "Fenton" referred to as a resident of "Farnold". She laughingly explained she is equidistant between Arnold and Fenton.

Last week when I was out talking to people in the neighborhoods in unincorporated areas that have addresses with the names, “Fenton” and “Arnold” one conversation stood out above all the others.

Ann, a woman who lives in what most would call “Fenton” referred to herself as a resident of “Farnold”.  She laughingly explained she is equidistant between Arnold and Fenton shopping facilities.  Although my address says, “Imperial”, I too am a Farnoldian.  So, when my family goes shopping for food, clothing or other necessities, we must make a serious choice… every time.

Ann and I went on to talk about how Jefferson County services are funded – mainly with sales taxes from purchases made in Jefferson County.  These services include the

County Road and Bridge building and maintenance
Snow removal on County roads
Sheriff’s Department
Fire and Ambulance districts
The County courthouse
The County jail
The Recorder of Deeds
The people who hold County records
The people who administer elections
And so much more

It is so important for us to make the choice to buy the things we buy in Jefferson County whenever we can.   Pay attention to the signs that announce you are entering or leaving Jefferson County while on your way to let that money burn the hole in your pocket.  Buying local makes a difference.

So to all the Farnoldians out there, think before you buy.  We have wonderful local companies in Jefferson County.  We just need to make the CHOICE to buy from them.
