Three New Administrators in Rockwood School District

An executive director of student services, director of research, evaluation and assessment and director of professional learning were hired during Sunday's Rockwood school board meeting.

The following new Rockwood School District positions are effective July 1, according to a district news release issued late Monday.

Executive Director of Student Services – Katie Reboulet
Katie Reboulet has held the position of Rockwood's director of human resources for the past five years. Prior to that, she served at Rockwood Valley Middle School as the principal for four years, an assistant principal for eight years, and a social studies teacher for two years. Her first year of teaching was as a social studies and community service teacher at Lafayette High School.

Reboulet earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Missouri-Columbia, a master's degree in secondary school administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis, and a doctoral degree in education from Saint Louis University.

Director of Research, Evaluation and Assessment – Jeff Puls
Jeff Puls has served as the coordinator of testing for the past two years. Prior to that, he served as the coordinator of Science K-12 for a year and as a technology instructional coach for two years. He began his education career at Marquette High School where he taught science for 11 years.

Puls earned a bachelor's degree in biology and a master's degree in secondary Ssience from Truman State University. He is also certified as an eMINTS instructional specialist.

Director of Professional Learning – Jessica Vehlewald
For the past two years, Jessica Vehlewald has served as the content facilitator of social studies in Rockwood. She previously served as the coordinator of social studies for one year, and as a social studies instructional coach for four years. She served as a social studies department chairperson at Marquette High School, where she taught for seven years and as a social studies department lead at Rockwood South Middle School where she taught for eight years. In addition to this experience, she has served as an adjunct professor for Webster University and as a curriculum consultant for the Development of Model Curriculum with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

Vehlewald earned a bachelor's degree in secondary education from Southeast Missouri State University, and a master's degree in teaching from Webster University. She expects to complete her educational specialist degree in leadership this summer.

Some residents said similar titles were held by Nancy DuBois and Randy Smasal, previous co-workers with Rockwood Superintendent Bruce Borchers, for full-time positions with Rockwood as an "executive director of learning and support services" and as an "associate superintendent of learning," respectively. Both DuBois and Smasal took other jobs outside of the district after the first year:
