Restaurant Inspections: IHOP, Maggie Moo's, Taco Bell, McDonald's, O'Charley's

See how your favorite Fenton restaurants performed on recent St. Louis County Health Department inspections.

Restaurant inspections in Fenton and High Ridge are conducted by the St. Louis County Department of Health. Patch has a summary of the public reports affecting area eating and drinking establishments reviewed January 1-March 14.

Grade rankings range from A (highest) to C (lowest). Report comments and explanations are provided in Patch's summary. Follow-up inspections are noted, other visits are routine.

Taco Bell, 611 Gravois Rd.
Date: Feb. 12
Grade: A (100)
Comments: A customer contacted the Health Department after a surprise in their Beefy Five Layer Burrito. The customer said they bit down on something hard in the food. “I spat it out into my napkin and discovered what I believe to be a rodent or small mammal tooth (incisor). I am thoroughly disgusted. I have saved both the tooth and the receipt from that meal,” the customer noted in the complaint. An inspector did not observe any violations during a visit on Feb. 12, however, and closed the complaint.

International House of Pancakes, 110 Kate G. Lane
Date: Feb. 5
Grade: A (100)
Comments: The Health Department received a call that the restaurant was closed due to a water heater malfunction. When an inspector arrived, the water heater had already been replaced. The facility was approved for open.

Maggie Moo’s, 699 Gravois Bluffs Blvd.
Date: March 14
Grade: A (96)
Comments: Paper towels were not provided at the front area hand sink, which was corrected on-site. Lights in the walk-in cooler were not properly shielded. Personal belongings were stored in food areas, according to the report. The inspector also observed that the back door did not provide a tight seal, and recommended the door for repair. A follow-up inspection was scheduled for April 15.

McDonald’s, 501 Old Smizer Rd.
Date: March 11
Grade: A (100)
Comments: A manager contacted a plumber because water was not flowing from the women’s restroom faucet, which was contributed to an aerator. The restaurant has not had any other water or plumbing concerns since the inspection date, according to the report.

O’Charley’s, 190 Gravois Bluffs Circ.
Date: Feb. 5
Grade: A (99)
Comments: An inspector responded to a complaint, which was not included in the inspection report. The restaurant is on a monthly pest control schedule; the last treatment prior to the inspection was on Jan. 31. The last visual sighting of pests was on Jan. 31, according to the report. The inspector also spoke with the manager on cleaning gaskets on all coolers, and debris accumulation under equipment.
