Ready For Another One? Candidate Filing for April Elections Begins Dec. 11

Fenton will elect a mayor and four alderman next April; local school boards also will fill positions.

Just when you thought it was safe to drive around town without seeing election signs, the City of Fenton sent notice that the filing period for local candidates for the April 2, 2013 municipal elections opens Dec. 11 and closes Jan. 15. 2013.

Fenton will have a number of offices at stake, including the mayoral post. Current Mayor Dennis Hancock already has announced he will not seek a 7th term as the city's top official. Paul Seemayer, whose aldermanic term expires next April, already has declared his candidacy for the mayor's seat. Three other aldermanic terms will expire in April 2013, leaving those positions to be filled in the April 2 election. The aldermen up for re-election in April include Joe Maurath (Ward 2), Chris Clauss (Ward 3) and Jim Mauller (Ward 4). Aldermanic positions are for two-year terms.

Those who wish to file a declaration of candidacy for an office may do so at the city clerk’s office located at Fenton City Hall, 625 New Smizer Mill Road, Fenton, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The City of Fenton offices will be closed on Dec. 24, Dec. 25, Dec. 31 and Jan. 1, 2013.
