Olde Towne Businesses to Hatch New Plans

The business owners who are trying to revive an Olde Towne Fenton business district will get together Tuesday to plan its next steps to bring greater visibility to the business district.

It will be buoyed possibly by its recognition by Patch readers who overwhelmingly voted in a recent poll to name the new bridge being built between Sunset Hills and Olde Towne Fenton as the Olde Towne Fenton Bridge. The name was the overwhelming choice of readers who participated in the poll with 51 percent of the 90 votes cast.

The fun poll asked readers to weigh in on a name for the new bridge, even though the itself has no plans to name the new span, which is scheduled to open in late August or early September.

A namesake bridge is only one of several ideas being discussed by the Olde Towne business leaders, which also include new signage, promotional events, fund raisers and other ideas that might provide better visibility and cohesiveness to Olde Towne, whose boundaries roughly are from the new bridge and Old Gravois Road at and American Legion Post #400 and along (Old Gravois Road to Highway 141 and beyond to an area behind the Plaza. Old Towne also includes the area along (Old Highway 141 past and to the stoplight at Gravois Bluffs Boulevard.
