Freaky 5K Walk/Run set for Oct. 20

The Freaky 5K walk/run will be Oct. 20 and the St. Louis County Police Department Fenton Precinct will set up a Halloween Safety Center on Oct. 31.

The Freaky 5K walk/run started in 2011 in Fenton City Park as a family fun event for walkers and racers of all ages. This year's event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday and is a walk in the park, showcasing the vibrant fall colors of the trees in Fenton City Park. The first 75 entrants for the Freaky5K walk/run receive a free T-shirt. And although costumes aren't required, there will be prizes awarded for the best costumes of the day, in addition to prizes for the top finishers in each age group. To register, or for more information on the Freaky5K, contact Katie Kearby at 636-343-0067. Entry fees for the race are $20 per person and need to be accompanied by a registration form. A PDF file with the race flyer and registration form accompanies this article.

On Halloween night (Oct. 31) the St. Louis County Police Department Fenton Precinct will host a Halloween Safety Center from 5 to 7 p.m. at RiverChase of Fenton, 990 Horan Drive. Police officers will inspect Halloween costumes for safety and will check out treats, in addition to handing out reflective safety strips, glow sticks and other goodies.
