Fenton OKs Pavilion to be Built Within Olde Towne Plaza Park

The project will be paid for from a $130,000 grant from St. Louis County's Municipal Park Grant Commission.

The City of Fenton will construct a multi-use pavilion as part of a Meramec Greenway Trailhead project, at Fenton Olde Towne Plaza Park at the corner of Old Gravois Road and Old Highway 141.

The Board of Aldermen approved the project, which will use a $130,000 grant from the St. Louis County Municipal Park Grant Commission, to pay for the new pavilion.

There has been talk of a farmer's market operating at the site, but Community Development Director Gary Crabtree said the city is careful not to specify a particular use but to refer to the project as a "multi-use." He said the pavilion, which will have electrical service and a concrete floor, could be used for numerous types of community events.

The Meramec Greenway is a hiking and biking trail that runs four miles along the Meramec River from St. Louis County's Unger Park, to Olde Towne Fenton and on to George Winter Park. The trailhead is adjacent to the small Olde Towne Fenton Plaza Park.

The pavilion would be available for use by the public.
