Woman Swerves to Hit Pedestrian, Police Say

A woman who swerved to hit a man walking down the street on Mt. Everest Drive, Fenton, on Jan. 28, was placed into custody after a foot chase in the woods and was arrested suspected of assault DWI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

A Jefferson County Sheriff's Department deputy's report indicated the victim was walking down Mt. Everest Drive when he was struck by the woman's vehicle, who a witness said swerved across the street to strike the man. The woman's vehicle was located in the parking lot of the apartment complex and there was minor damage to the passenger side mirror, the report said. When a sheriff's deputy attempted to make contact with the woman, she fled into the woods behind the apartment complex. After a search of the area she was located and placed into custody.

The sheriff's report stated the victim of the assault received a text message from the woman prior to the incident in which that reportedly said she hoped he dies.  A DWI examination at the scene resulted in finding the woman in an intoxicated condition, according to the report.
