Two Fatal Car Crashes Involve Jefferson County Motorists

Missouri State Highway Patrols reports.

Two fatal car crashes this week involved drivers from Jefferson County, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol reports.

On Wednesday, Thad Thurman, 34, of High Ridge, was struck by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 55 in Ste Genevieve County. Thurman was taken to Barnes Jewish Hospital with serious injuries.

Killed in the crash was Kenneth R. Sullivan, of Van Buren, MO, whose vehicle was travelling northbound in the southbound lanes of I-55 before it struck Thurman's 2007 Toyota Tundra in a head-on collision. Sullivan was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS personnel.

In a Thursday crash, June E. Rowden, 79, of House Springs, was killed when she attempted to cross the eastbound lanes of Highway 30 at Cedar Hill Road and pulled into the path of a vehicle driven by Joshua A. Mattingly, 33, of Cedar Hill, according to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report. The front of Mattingly's vehicle struck the passenger side of Rowden's vehicle.
