Truck Thief Strikes Mailboxes, House During Attempted Getaway
Imagine waking up to your truck being stolen.
An unknown suspect entered a 1981 Dodge Ram on Brennan Woods around 1:50 a.m. on June 7. The owner apparently woke up during the theft and started chasing his vehicle on foot, according to the report.
The suspect drove the truck off the road, striking two mailboxes and a parked 1994 Eagle Summit, before continuing its drive down Brennan Woods and Little Brennan Road. According to police the truck struck a tree, and kept traveling until it struck a home on Lark Drive. The impact damaged the resident's window, according to the report.
The owner of the damaged home witnessed the suspect running away on foot.
Police found that the truck key was stuck in the ignition and the vehicle's brakes didn't work. A canvas of the area by police was unsuccessful, though officers found the suspect's blood and a shoe at the scene.
