Police Department Hosting Forum to Warn of Medicare Scams

The St. Louis County Police Department, West County Precinct, and Meramec Bluffs Lutheran Senior Living Center are co-hosting an informational presentation to earn people about Medicare sales scams.

The presentation will be at 2 p.m. Friday, at Meramec Bluffs Lutheran Senior Living Center, 1 Meramec Bluffs Drive, Ballwin.

Con artists and scammers are constantly inventing new ways to take advantage of elderly people, according to a news release from the county police department.  The Medicare Open Enrollment Period is the perfect opportunity to dupe seniors.  Identity thieves are targeting Medicare recipients for their personal and financial information and then running up huge bills in their names before anyone is the wiser.  Arthur James Chapman from Chapman Insurance Group will be the guest speaker and is an expert in the field, whose presentation also will address scams involving Medicaid and Medigap as well.  Chapman has more than 30 years of police experience. Residents should note that this is not a sales presentation and is strictly for the purpose of learning how not to get scammed by the con artists, according to the police news release.
