Movie Scene Reenactment Results in Shooting Incident in High Ridge

Two men re-enact scene from movie "Savages," resulting in one man being shot, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department

A 25-year-old High Ridge man was airlifted to a hospital Monday with an apparent gunshot wound to his chest, following an incident in which he and his friends, after helping the man move to a new residence, were drinking and watching the movie Savages, according to a report from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.

Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies had responded to a call about an accidental shooting at about midnight Monday and, upon investigation, it was determined the injured man and his friends had discussed a scene from the movie about disarming someone with a weapon and wanted to reenact it, according to the report.

In the process of the demonstration, a 9mm handgun discharged, striking the victim in the chest.

Deputies took a 27-year-old man into custody as a result of the shooting incident and transported him to Jefferson County Jail.  The incident report was forwarded to the the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office for consideration of potential charges in the shooting.

The gunshot victim continues to be treated at an area hospital for his injuries.
